5- Cable structure description

Cable structure

Material Description

conductor

Round compressed steel core reinforced (aluminum or aluminum alloy) conductor

Conductor shield (if any)

Cross-linked or non-cross-linked semi-conductive materials

insulation

High-density polyethylene or cross-linked polyethylene weather-resistant insulation material

6-Insulation identification

Insulation coloring identification:

Insulation color is black or as per customer's requirement.

7-Special performance requirements

Weather resistance, UV resistance, tensile strength, etc.

8- Cable application characteristics

8.1 The maximum long-term rated temperature allowed for the cable conductor during normal operation:

Ordinary polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride: 70℃; high-density polyethylene: 75 ℃ ; cross-linked polyethylene: 90℃.

8.2 The maximum allowable temperature of the cable conductor during short circuit (duration not exceeding 5 seconds) is: ordinary polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride: 130℃; high-density polyethylene insulation: 150℃; cross-linked polyethylene insulation: 250℃.

8.3 The temperature of cable installation should not be lower than -20℃

8.4 Minimum bending radius for cable installation:

Not less than 20 times the outer diameter of the cable.

8.5 Steel-reinforced aluminum (aluminum alloy) overhead insulated cables up to 20kV are widely used in rural power grid construction and upgrades, especially in long-span power supply systems in mountainous areas. Compared with pure aluminum conductors, they offer greater breaking strength and better sag characteristics, increasing transmission capacity without changing tower loads. The number of towers can be reduced according to the particularity of mountainous areas or rivers to achieve large-span power supply.
